Hello Kitty at UNIQLO -- Hellosmile Project
Hello Kitty is EVERYWHERE lately! Hello Kitty for Asics. Hello Kitty for Forever 21. Hello Kitty for Uniqlo!
For the first time in months, I took a look at the new Uniqlo (US) site and I discovered that there's a line of Hello Kitty graphic tees out EXCLUSIVELY at the Flagship store on 5th Ave -- sounds like a shopping trip on Friday to me.
There were two tees in particular that I fell in love with.
The others were a bit too kiddish for me; these are cute but still rock-able at my age. I'm definitely going to check out the FOREVER 21 X HELLO KITTY collection when that comes out on Friday as well. Check out the collection on TokyoFashion's cover post of the Shibuya launch.
By the way, I'm so happy to be posting up on here again.

Hideo Kojima's visit to UNIQLO (SoHo, NY)
Yesterday I attended the KONAMI X UNIQLO event at the Uniqlo in SoHo.
Hideo Kojima, the mastermind behind the famous Metal Gear Solid games, was there to sign autographs coinciding with the release of 8 limited edition MGS Peace Walker T-shirts to be sold at Uniqlo.
There's a rule I came up with after my first Jimmy Eat World concert proved slightly disappointing; I couldn't even snag a setlist. You have to think like the craziest fan. And although I knew the craziest fan would either sleep outside Uniqlo ( which was rumored to have happened ) or get there EXTREMELY early ( 8 AM? ) I still couldn't get my lazy butt out of bed fast enough. The originally planned 9:30 arrival was pushed to 10:40 and by that time Mr. Kojima's fans totaled over 300+ !! ( Mind you, the event didn't start till 12 ) I stood online till 2:00 when it was announced that the autographing was done. Needless to say I did not get an autograph or win a raffle prize, but I did get the T-shirts! :)

The guys were extremely hilarious and made the 3hr and 15min wait a lot more bearable!
Although I'm not a proud PSP owner, I did get a chance to play the Peace Walker demo last year at the Tokyo Game Show. Co-op was a lot of fun, and you know it means something coming from me, because I'm not a shooter type gamer. So for all you PSP owners who are still skeptical - go find yourselves a friend who's got Peace Walker and check out the co-op mode; I promise you won't be disappointed.
Hope you're all enjoying the weekend!
Stay tuned for this week's Tenoli Tuesday post; it's going to be a good one :3

¡Raiding NYC!
Here's a massive photo dump that'll hopefully make up for all the tardiness in posting!
So I went into the city on Wednesday for the first time in -- too long! Before meeting up with my friend Franklyn, I made a stop at the Tokidoki Capsule Store in SoHo (Spring St.) & got myself a little cellphone charm.
********************************************
[ At WeSC ]
The guys there were nice enough to give me a pair of royal blue headphone cushions until the purple ones come in ~ Got my guinea pig Butters to model it.
********************************************
[ At UNIQLO ]
Bought that Minnie Mouse Tee ($10.50) and claimed that Mickey print hoodie.
Apparently UNIQLO and Disney are having a love affair to kick off the summer! <3
Gundam and One Piece Tees.
***********************************************
[On the Subway]
Tokidoki lipgloss smells like blueberries!~
**********************************************
[ At Crumbs ]
I'm going to have to get a Red Velvet Colossal Crumb for my birthday next year! <3
Of course I had to get something for my dessert later, so I snagged a Good Guy cupcake.
**********************************************
[ At Organika ]
Franco and I ended the night at Organika - an organic Italian Restaurant in the West Village
(7th Ave & Grove St.)
Food was amazing! I'll definitely have to go again soon!
Hope you all enjoyed this very late and massive photodump post!
I'm going to Japan Day tomorrow (Sunday) so expect a whole Flickr album next week and a few videos as well!

.Upd@t3.
Besides their stereotypical knack for electronics, Japanese people, especially the youth, are becoming well known for their unique, bold, risky, and trend-setting sense of style. The only problem is they're the only ones who don't know this yet.
It's a wonder why Japanese brand stores haven't really made it overseas when it seems like so much of the fashion trends that start out in Japan go global soon after.
Besides, UNIQLO which isn't well known to Americans, unless you've been to Japan or have come across the store, the only one in America on Broadway Ave. in NYC, there aren't many other Japanese brands I can think of off the top of my head.
After my study abroad experience in Japan, I've found myself bored with the limiting shopping options in suburbia and uninspired with the overly casual style of those around me (granted I do live on a college campus). Still, in Japan, Japanese college students, dress up for school. We're not talking neck-ties and leather shoes, but even the most "laid back" dress has a sense of style to it that even those not so particularly interested in it can appreciate.
In conclusion I've decided to share with you three things within the next few days!
I'll start with the article I've drawn this blog post inspiration from PARIS, MILAN, TOKYO, TOKYO? Post tomorrow's outfit, inspired by a look I saw in my favorite Japanese fashion magazine (SOUP), and post about the February issue of SOUP which should be in the mail for me by tomorrow (YES!)
Excited about the next couple of days! Hope you are too.

UNIQLO
So far, I've only been to two UNIQLO stores in Japan: Shin Urayasu 's & Makuhari 's .
Besides house slippers and a small towel (to carry around) I haven't purchased much, until Friday when I was finally able to buy the sweater dress/shirt I wanted since my first week in Japan. Good thing I waited because the price dropped from 2,000 yen to 990 yen! (*^_^*)
So here's a picture for ya:

I heard from plasmamonkey (via twitter ) that the Harajuku UNIQLO has some really cool graphic tees, so I'm definitely going to have to check it out soon.
I really hope the dollar picks up some strength before the week is over.
Oh, and remember those UENO markets I mentioned earlier? Well here's what I managed to spend some money on, besides the delicious pineapple on a stick:
I'm actually uploading Tokyo Game Show 2009 pictures as we speak and I will write a post (hopefully later tonight) with all the updates that I get from the 4-5 booklets I was handed.
Time for some Japanese homework and soothing music.
