You can take a look at the list of internships available not only in Japan but also in Spain, France, and Germany on their website: http://www.intraxinternshipsabroad.com/
Here are just a few of the PRO's and CON's of these internships, in my opinion.
PRO:
- The internships are open to undergraduates as well as recent graduates!
- You are eligible to apply for roughly up to 2 and a half years AFTER graduation.
- The internships are great opportunities to gain experience in your field of interest while gaining the experience of working and living abroad.
- These internships are NOT PAID.
- The internships not only require you pay for your own travel expenses, but those of the program itself - housing, field trips, etc.
- Especially for those who are recent undergraduates, there is still a lot of time left to save up money for this opportunity.
- However, specifically in the case with Japan, internships are rarity because in Japan entering a company usually requires that company to invest some sort of paid training for you - this investment of time and money seems futile if you decide to leave within a few months of being hired; therefore, as costly as it may seem, you are paying for an opportunity that is basically unheard of in Japan.
I find it rather exciting :)
Hasta luego.
