FASHION: Hello Kitty graces the cover of Elle Taiwan
Hello Kitty's trending on Twitter? Just as good as the day that "El Camino" was a trending topic - it's always a good feeling to be in the know before twitter gets a massive hold on it, but I have to admit I had NO idea why Kitty-chan herself as of big importance.
Well look who made the cover of Elle Taiwan? Some people were commenting on how disturbing this is, but after hearing the Japan Day folks introduce the feminine feline as a Japan's ambassador, this is no disturbing surprise at all. In fact Hello Kitty is such an icon I'm surprised this didn't happen sooner. I mean, she even launched her own makeup line at Sephora earlier this year with a followup of collections launching in both F21 and H&M, so why shouldn't she be on the cover of a fashion mag?
What do you think?
Check out the site where I snagged the photo from and check out the OTHER VERSION of the Elle magazine. Fashionista.com // Hello Kitty On The Cover Of Elle Taiwan

Hello Kitty at UNIQLO -- Hellosmile Project
Hello Kitty is EVERYWHERE lately! Hello Kitty for Asics. Hello Kitty for Forever 21. Hello Kitty for Uniqlo!
For the first time in months, I took a look at the new Uniqlo (US) site and I discovered that there's a line of Hello Kitty graphic tees out EXCLUSIVELY at the Flagship store on 5th Ave -- sounds like a shopping trip on Friday to me.
There were two tees in particular that I fell in love with.
The others were a bit too kiddish for me; these are cute but still rock-able at my age. I'm definitely going to check out the FOREVER 21 X HELLO KITTY collection when that comes out on Friday as well. Check out the collection on TokyoFashion's cover post of the Shibuya launch.
By the way, I'm so happy to be posting up on here again.

Hello Kitty X Dr. Martens Collab Part Dos!
Woke up this morning and saw this tweet:
Which linked to a picture of these with the short caption "Coming out in Spring"

I'm really excited for these because I wasn't able to cop the boots during the winter collab and I'd totally rock the high top with a pair of skinny jeans, no doubt. So I'm going to keep this in my radar and hopefully manage to snag a pair.
The flats are $110 and the high tops are $125 now available on the Doc Martens website.
Check out the UNIQLO haul post below and SOUP March Fashion Trends.

Otaku, une marque française
Howdy Y'all!

Otaku was featured at Japan Expo last month, in July. Similar to how Otakon of Baltimore, MD is a a large anime convention, Japan Expo is an annual Japanese pop culture convention in Paris, France that started in 1999.

My name is Lt. Mowgli, a friend of the La Tenoli. She has given me the privilege of guest posting on her blog. I am also a Japanophile, age 21, live in the Washington DC area, and have a background in the Japanese, French and Spanish Language.
This is my first blog post so I hope you enjoy this entry and others to come.
Let's get started shall we?
Bonjour tout le monde! Comment allez-vous?
Today's topic is Otaku, a French clothing brand, une marque française (discovered via MaterialKillers)
みんな、聞いてください!Tout le monde, écoute s'il vous plaît
日本に「おたく」or "Otaku"があまりよくない言葉ですよ。The word "Otaku" refers to people who are obsessed with anime, manga, video games or all three. While the term is basically used to call someone a "fan" of particular interest or hobby, it generally has a very negative connotation, which many Japanese people would not like to be associated with and may even be insulted by.
The name "Otaku" alone is quite striking for brand when knowing this background information. Despite any negative associations with the word, Otaku has released fresh fashions targeted toward video gamers.

¡Raiding NYC!
Here's a massive photo dump that'll hopefully make up for all the tardiness in posting!
So I went into the city on Wednesday for the first time in -- too long! Before meeting up with my friend Franklyn, I made a stop at the Tokidoki Capsule Store in SoHo (Spring St.) & got myself a little cellphone charm.
********************************************
[ At WeSC ]
The guys there were nice enough to give me a pair of royal blue headphone cushions until the purple ones come in ~ Got my guinea pig Butters to model it.
********************************************
[ At UNIQLO ]
Bought that Minnie Mouse Tee ($10.50) and claimed that Mickey print hoodie.
Apparently UNIQLO and Disney are having a love affair to kick off the summer! <3
Gundam and One Piece Tees.
***********************************************
[On the Subway]
Tokidoki lipgloss smells like blueberries!~
**********************************************
[ At Crumbs ]
I'm going to have to get a Red Velvet Colossal Crumb for my birthday next year! <3
Of course I had to get something for my dessert later, so I snagged a Good Guy cupcake.
**********************************************
[ At Organika ]
Franco and I ended the night at Organika - an organic Italian Restaurant in the West Village
(7th Ave & Grove St.)
Food was amazing! I'll definitely have to go again soon!
Hope you all enjoyed this very late and massive photodump post!
I'm going to Japan Day tomorrow (Sunday) so expect a whole Flickr album next week and a few videos as well!

Triumvir Super Street Fighter X Collection
Another fail for La Tenoli this week with a lack of Tenoli Tuesday updating - senior week/graduation is keeping me a little TOO busy. Post-graduation plans aren't finalized so it's been a crazy two-three weeks.
Enough of that. Let's get on to the good stuff!~
Yesterday was my first time seeing the Super Street Fighter IV commercial - I was really impressed with the style of the art they used which was very reminiscent of the opening of the game.
Roaming around my Tumblr dashboard, earlier today, I stumbled upon some news of Triumvir's Super Street Fighter X [T-shirt] Collection (via MaterialKillers)
With all the hype surrounding the game, the work will do itself.
I checked out the site, where it is said you can pre-order the tees that will be available at the online stores and selected retailers the first week of June.
Here's a screen shot of the thumbnails for the t-shirts.
I personally love the sketchy drawing style of the art and the accents of color. All the t-shirts are available in black and white, which depending on the character, I think makes the graphic a lot more interesting.
I'd love to cop an Akuma tee for AtomSk and a Chun-Li one for me, でも I haven't figured out how to pre-order, lol. So hey, if any of you figure it out, hook a sista up! : )
Oh and check out the M.Bison poster - Did you know his Japanese name is Vega? WT--?! (Learn something new, and confusing, everyday.)
Looking forward to a special guest blog from my good friend Tigresaa in the near future.
Till next time Tenoli-lovers!~ :D

Boom Box Bags!
There is no better way to enjoy your music and the company of strangers than to blast your music obnoxiously for all to hear. No? You know, the blast-your-music-until-you-feel-it-in-your-soul thing? Well if you don't, give it a try, but with headphones you'll be sure to go deaf and lose an eardrum, so here's the solution and I'm glad there's a cute Hello Kitty version - cause I mean, really, who can get upset when Hip-Hop Hello Kitty's doing the DJ-ing?
This HK bag is just the first of a few boom box bags that I've seen around the web and in a store or two. Looks like all the 80s throwback inspired clothing spilled over to a few other things, and hey as unnecessary, extra, and annoying as this might seem, I'm really hoping to get myself one.
Best part is, if you want to spoil yourself (or your girl) you can knock off a few $dollar$ (20%) at checkout when you use the REP CODE TENOLI
(First time REP CODE users get 20% OFF their first purchase and 10% OFF all additional purchases.)

And of course, this Hello Kitty one isn't the only one on sale over at Karmaloop.com, you can browse though some of the LOOP DESIGN ones as well.
You can also check out my updated karmaloop picks on the side banner throughout the month - I'll try my best to update it at least 2-3 times a month.

In like a lion, out like a lamb.
It's March! New month and new season - since spring officially starts around the 21st! : )
It's the time of year that calls for skirts and open toe shoes, which means getting those pedicures and manicures before the show-and-tell begins!
Nail art is a big part of Japanese fashion. It ranges from the crazy accessorized themed nails to the more subtle pastel colored gel nails. This really peaked my interest in nail art and I even bought a few nail art stickers while I was in Japan and began to do up my nails every so often.
So here are just a few examples of Japanese nail art:

These are really cute, but I think I do a little too much to have nails with 3D designs on them - looks too gentle, I'd easily knock it off.
I can't even begin to imagine how she does her hair everyday with those nails, my hair would definitely get tangled in all that cute nail art.
Gel Nails on the other hand are a different story.
Unlike nail polish, gel nails don't chip and the design is in the actual gel nail itself. Although it may sound limiting, it actually opens up the possibilities!
In my search for more information on gel nails and designs I found this blog post that talked about the gel nail experience from a first-timer point of view and the spot in NYC where she got her nails done ( You know I had to hook you up! )
Here's the store info::

SABIT NYC
Another Japanese urbanwear brand find!
This time it's gentlemen exclusive.
I first heard about the brand through the Contemporary Streetwear Fashion Week Blog where they talked a little about the successful four year old brand - Sabit NYC
I took a look around the site. Although the pieces are nice, the prices are not so recession-broke-college-kid friendly. Still, it's worth taking a look at the site. If none of the items are in your budget try your luck going to a few of the stores that sell the brand, there might just be a SALE rack : )

.[Tenoli] Teddy Bears.
Sorry for the delayed Tenoli Tuesday posts. School has been keeping me busier than usual. Next Tuesday's post should be back on schedule.

TOUS is a famous brand name company founded in Spain. TOUS is most famous for its handbags and jewelry.
It's like COACH and TIFFANY'S had an illegitimate Spanish baby.
The inspiration for the design is the teddy bear! :3
Sounds like my kind of name brand!
Standard TOUS teddy bear designs looks like the one pictured on the left - unfortunately at first glance it looks like a bunch of blobs, making it a little difficult for me to fall in love right away.

Fortunately (for all NYC-ers) there is a store in SoHo, NYC.
Until now, I haven't had a chance to visit the store, but I hope to stop by this March during my Spring Break. (I'd include the TOUS official website link, but the site doesn't seem to be working at the moment.)
Here's the basic store information:
109 Greene St., New York, NY 10012
nr. Prince St.
(212) 219 - 1444
For more info click HERE.
While we're on the international teddy bear love topic, here's something I had my eye while I was in Japan:

Suzy'sZoo Train Pass Case
(the see-through part is on the back-side)
I saw a lot of girls (and guys) in Japan who had these hanging off their backpacks. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to use it as efficiently as I would have in Japan, so I didn't buy one, but I still want one.
(Metrocard would like kinda nice in one of these though.)

Street Wear Fashion Week.
When you think of "Fashion Week", what comes to mind? Ridiculously tall high heels? - What about really cool kicks?
In the Feb. issue of SOUP Magazine, I came across an advertisement for ATMOS sneakers. Interested and wanting to find out a little more, naturally, I did a little googling and came across their blog. So did you know there's an ATMOS store in NYC? - Oh yes, this makes a Tenoli very happy!
I followed their blog a week or two ago, and last night when I decided to start working on this post for you guys, I found out ATMOS is going to be a part of this year's Contemporary Street Wear Fashion Week. ( You can follow them on Twitter too @ATOMSNYC )
So what am I ultimately getting at?
TONIGHT FRIDAY FEBURARY 12th There will be a Street Wear Fashion Week in-store event at ATMOSNYC! If you're into Japanese fashion, urban fashion, Japanese urban fashion, or you're in NYC and not doing anything in particular tonight, RSVP to this event!

ONITSUKA TIGER & OOTD
There's nothing like a new pair of kicks delivered right to your front step (or in my case - school mailbox, lol)
I've been looking around for a new pair of sneakers to use when I work out and I've read some pretty good review for these Onitsuka Tiger kicks, so I figured I'd give them a try. For $29.99 at JOURNEYS.COM there isn't much to lose. Besides, my dressier brown/white/green Onitsuka's are a 9/10! :)
On a clothing related note ...
Here's my first ever OUTFIT OF THE DAY
It's based on an outfit I saw in one of last year's SOUP magazines ( I will do my best to find the look and scan it into here)
